Position Summary:

We are currently looking to recruit an individual with leadership skills for a Regional Director role for Eastern North America. This role will have commercial responsibility for Life Sciences products/services in the Eastern US and Canada. The primary focus of the role will be in providing leadership of our Eastern North America sales team to identify and secure opportunity for growth and in driving revenue expansion for SomaLogic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a proven independent, self-starter with the ability to leverage resources and capacity of a diverse/remote team to achieve results
  • Proven ability to positively influence sales growth and performance with a clear track record of growing, changing and evolving a region
  • Leadership role in hiring, training, mentoring, providing continuous feedback, and conducting performance evaluations with direct reports.
  • Ensure company policies and guidelines are communicated, understood and followed by teams.
  • Work within the regional team to understand/interpret client needs, ensure overall client expectations are met and surpassed and support sales representatives in developing customer relationships
  • Create regional sales plans and quotas in alignment with business objectives
  • Coordinate training with the SomaLogic Commercial Trainer to ensure individuals and the team are upskilled and trained on SomaLogic products/services
  • Serve as a point of escalation to the regional team and as an escalation point for SomaLogic customers
  • Attend client meetings and provide backup support to sales representative as needed
  • Support sales representatives with ongoing activities and daily management of opportunities
  • Report on regional sales results and forecast quarterly and annual revenue growth
  • Continuously assess areas to showcase and present SomaLogic as a thought leader in industry. Advocate and work to support sales representatives to create external outreach engagements (i.e., executive forums, lunch and learns, roundtables, etc.)
  • Drive regional/territory strategy thoroughly understanding customer mix, buying patterns, competitive landscape, etc.
  • Analyze regional market trends and customer needs to identify new products/services that better positions SomaLogic as the leader within proteomics
  • Participate in key Life Sciences initiatives (or corporate initiatives) as delegated and requested by the Head of Core/Emerging Accounts or EVP, Life Sciences
  • Suggest new services/products and innovative sales techniques to increase customer satisfaction, engagement, and stickiness with our customers

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years relevant job experience either in managing a territory and or sales team
  • 4 years in a leadership role in the pharmaceutical, biotech or CRO Industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong understanding of scientific and clinical/medical concepts
  • Extensive management experience with multidisciplinary teams, proven sales leadership skills, and strong presentation skills, organization, creativity and resourcefulness
  • Proven track record of developing mid- and high- level business contacts at biopharma, biotech and academic institutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage and fully integrate with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Finance and Marketing, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing sales leads, making professional presentations, managing the sales process through close, and handling all aspects of contract negotiations.
  • Understanding of sales automation systems (SalesForce, HubSpot, etc.) and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strategic planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledgeable about market dynamics (competition, customer needs, customer portfolio, market trends, and solution-based offerings)
  • Strong presentation and meeting management skills
  • Ability to simplify and present complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Requires 30% field travel
